What items are needed for a first aid kit in a child care setting and what the items do.
All the basic items of course!
1. Band aids -> waterproof, stretchy, comfortable, with medicine on already; buy every kind of them
2. Breathable tape. A special kind of tape that allows ur skin to breath
3. Tablets and capsules -> headache, stomachache, fever, coughing, etc
4. cotton -> wet it with water in order to clean the dirty things off ur scratches
5. clean water
6. towels (not the big ones)
7. tissue
8. cotton sticks
9. thermometer
10. CPR manual and instructions
There's more than just that. But these r the things I've got in my personal first aid kit.
What's in your first aid kit? Cardon Children's emergency medicine Dr. Joseph Winchell talks about five essential items you need -- and ...
What character is big right now? Spongebob etc?
What band-aid would make a kid smile?
For a boy... probably Spider-Man or Super-Man
For a girl... probably The disney princesses.
Just original characters that have been around for a while.
Sometimes they just like bright colors and then they can draw smiley faces on them and that can help cheer them up :)
Some kids like the band-aid tattoos but... I persoanlly think they are pain to put on and keep on.
All the kids I baby-sit and my younger siblings like the fun original characters and they LOVE being able to draw on the bright colors with a sharpie when they are injured... it makes the kids i baby-sit smile.
Just my 2 cents.
Good Luck :)

I am trying to rebuild our first aid kit and need to know what I should have in there. I have a house full of young children all day and just want to be prepared. We also do alot of camping and want to make sure we are covered for the adults too.
Thanks for any advise!!

We addressed Mom's #1 complaint by updating the doctor's bag to a softgoods version that easily fits all of the pieces inside!
In addition, we updated the color palette to be bright and fun for preschoolers!
We made the stethoscope even better because now it really works! Kids will really hear their heart beating when they listen through the scope!
All I can find are first aid kits with band-aids... Any suggestions? (For example, won't I need a eye washout cup?)
There are many sets of standard first-aid equipment in baby stores. In general, you will need to have a thermometer, infant Tylenol and/or ibuprofen, an icepack (it's nice to leave one in the freezer and it's easier to use a gel pack than ice cubes), and then some of the typical things that you'd need for yourself (antibiotic ointment, band-aids). There is some controversy now about whether syrup of ipecac is as universally useful as people once thought, but it can't hurt to have around.
A few other random tips: You don't need cold medicine for infants (and probably not for young children, either). Infants shouldn't typically need hydrocortisone, either. You might not consider it first-aid exactly, but for any child over 6 months, having sunscreen is important, also. Babies are sent home from the hospital with a nasal aspirator. It is helpful to have baby nail clippers instead of full-size ones. You don't need an additional medicine dispenser, as almost all medicines come with a syringe or dropper already. Eye washes are so rarely needed that I don't think anyone considers them standard or necessary anymore.
