Locking up a first aid kit?

Does anyone know if it's legal or illegal to put a padlock on a first aid kit in the work place in Canada?

Links with info would be grand! Thanks.

technically it's not illegal, after-all kits are usually placed in rooms that are locked due to security issues. but in reality they should be kept open to everyone (including the public) in the case that a true emergency should occur. seconds do matter in the event of an emergency, it takes an average of 70 seconds to die from a severe wound and i doubt you can find a key,unlock a padlock, unwrap a dressing, isolate the wound, apply pressure on the artery above the wound, then (if available) start an iv infusion. not an ideal situation as you can see. therefore i would mention it to my supervisor and at least attempt to have it readily accessible.

Massive Israeli Aid to Gaza - Is It For Real? And if it is why is Al-Jazeerah not reporting it?

According to The Canada-Israel Committee did a fascinating analysis of the humanitarian aid to delivered to Gaza - and what it means in real terms for Gazans. Here's what the CIC concluded:

Over one million tons of humanitarian supplies were delivered by Israel to the people of Gaza in the past 18 months – that’s equal to nearly one ton of aid for every man, woman and child in Gaza.
In the first quarter of 2010 alone (January-March), Israel delivered 94,500 tons of supplies to Gaza. It’s very easy to miss what that actually means for the people of Gaza. The breakdown includes:

* 40,000 tons of wheat – which is equal to 53 million loaves of bread;
* 2,760 tons of rice – which equals 69 million servings;
* 1,987 tons of clothes and footwear – the equivalent weight of 3.6 million pairs of jeans; and
* 553 tons of milk powder and baby food – equivalent to over 3.1 million days of formula for an average six-month-old baby.

This reflects a long-term effort on the part of Israel to deliver a massive and comprehensive supply of aid to Gaza’s civilians

* During the Muslim holy days of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, Israel shipped some 11,000 head of cattle into Gaza – enough to provide 8.8 million meals of beef;
* More than 3,000 tons of hypochlorite were delivered by Israel to Gaza for water purification purposes – that’s 60 billion gallons of purified water; and
* Israel brought some 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine into Gaza – a weight equivalent to over 360,000 260-piece mobile trauma first aid kits.

Here are my questions:
1. Is this a total fabrication?

2. If it is not a fabrication, why is the international press not acknowledging it?

3. Would it be in the interest of the Arab media, such as Al-Jazeerah, media in Muslim countries, and the anti-zionist leftist world press not to acknowledge it? Or do media sources such as this have a stellar track record in fair and honest reporting?

4. If there is Aid does this fly in the face of the charges of some people in this section, and the governments of countries like Turkey, that Israel is engaged in active genocide against the Palestinian people , and the people of Gaza?

5, Would it be fair to cut off all Aid to Gaza unless the government of Hamas agrees to release Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped in Israel proper four years ago?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilad_Shali t
It is difficult to find independent verification of the aid. However, I do think it is out there or can be had. The international press, in my opinion, is more interested in promoting a very negative perception of Israel. It wold be wise for Israel to verify this aid, and then as it has been mentioned call an inquiry into why the international media is so biased against it.

Well you're pointing out why Israel gets so frustrated with the media reporting in the world... and the opinions formed against her that are so not based in facts.

Sadly, it appears that Jews can't get a fair shake.

==================
Sorry folks but the MFA data on this can be independently verified. Pictures of Gazas in their own media show overweight people & no one starving.

Abu - give me a break. Add to your analogy that every time you so much as crack the door open on the cage, your bird throws bombs at your little sister & shouts death to you -- then we'll talk.

FYI, phosphorus is legal to lit up those Hamas ambush tunnels & Hamas has sent it into Israeli civilians.

What are some absolute *must brings* when backpacking?

I'm going to backpack the WORLD basically for who knows how long time, west usa, alaska, canada, europe russia, egypt europe. I'll probably be doing lots of camping and walking. so what are some thing that I honestly just have to bring on your opinon im open to any advice you have.

Also what are some suggested places to avoid due to maybe lack of scernery, or dangerous?

Thank you

You'll probably want more than 1 liter of water. You need to drink at least that much every day to stay hydrated, and if you're backpacking you'll need at least twice as much every day. Heck, if you're going to Egypt and you're not used to the heat, you could drink that liter in an hour.

You'll also want to make sure you have money in the currency of all the countries you're visiting, or failing that some traveler's checks.

Can you read my story? it is around 800 words?

Phoenix had just put on his new running shoes when he heard Debbie and Joey knock at the door. They were out of breath and pointing up to the dark sky. With disbelief Phoenix blinked and thought, ' it's only 9am.' Suddenly a loud crash came from the kitchen. All three kids went running towards the sound. In the kitchen was Phoenix's mom, the shattered glass lay on the floor and she was nervously wringing her hands. She was listening to the Emergency Broadcast Announcement. Sara, Phoenix's younger sister entered into the kitchen and heard the announcer "By this time next week the entire province will be iced over. It is up to each resident to vacate." Phoenix's mom looked bewildered, the children were in shock and panic was about to set in.
Due to global cooling parts of the world had become iced over very quickly. Many did not know that Europe had already become a barren iceland. Only the few who were able to deport were able to tell their tale. The politicians feared mass hysteria would set in if the public new this truth. In order to maintain calm with the people, facts of global cooling had been altered and passed to the public as "not an issue". The internet had been shut down and had become illegal. All news was to be local community level in order to keep a false safety. Now parts of Canada were beginning to cool at an alarming pace...Toronto had just announced to their residents on the local Emergency Broadcast system..."vacate!"

Panic had set in, Debbie and Joey ran home, Phoenix's mom began to gather non-perishable food, first aid kit, flashlight. Phoenix was watching the hysteria surround him. His mom running in circles, his sister sobbing and he couldn't move. 'There's gotta be a way outta here' The money was to be for Phoenix's college education, a gift from his father's death insurance, but at this moment and at this time, the family needed the money to get as far away from Toronto as possible. Somewhere warm, Noshoe, South Africa was unthreatened by the cooling or at least from what Phoenix could remember from the Internet searching he had been doing a few years back before the Internet became illegal.

Phoenix was sad to leave his friends Debbie and Joey behind. Noshoe was a new large city, when first arrived Phoenix and his family stayed at a homeless shelter. Within a few days Phoenix's mother found work and were able to afford a nice apartment, and Sara was able to attend school. At times Phoenix thought of those who were not able to vacate and he wished that there was a way to stop this global cooling. Phoenix went to go visit the Noshoe Mayor, Charles Valour to discuss with him if there was a plan should the global cooling come towards Noshoe. The Mayor was impressed with young Phoenix's concern and offered him a job on his council. It was not long after, that Phoenix began to discover the secrets behind the words of Mayor Valour.

During Phoenix's posting he discovered that Noeshoe was not as stable of a city that many believe. The city was built at the edge of a cliff with a large mountain on the other side of the city. Politcally, treason was within the ranks and the city was on the brink of financial ruin. The Mayor declared Marshall law and he ordered the mentally ill, criminally insane and convicted serial killers be released to the outskirts of Noshoe. This was a living nightmare, Phoenix was feeling that he led his family to a prison camp, as the Mayor had a large concrete wall built around the city, and on the door inside of Noshoe hung a sign, "Entry is Prohibited". This bothered Phoenix and he began to speak to others who also felt they were prisoners within Noshoe. It was not long afterward the Mayor heard of Phoenix's open discussions and declared Phoenix and his family "evicted" from Noshoe.

Leaving Noshoe was going to be dangerous because beyond the door to the city was NoMans land, where any man who enters does not survive. They had no choice, they packed their gear and headed towards the giant door that lead out of the city. Beyond the door they could hear the howls and grunts, Sara began to tremble. The Mayor grinned as he put the key into the lock and slowly turned the key until the padlock opened. The Mayor looked at Phoenix and said "I had such high hopes for you", the Mayor opened the door to the city that lead to the black beyond, he turned his back to face the people of Noshoe and as he was about to declare the latest eviction, Phoenix lept forward and pushed the Mayor into the blackness beyond the city door and with a "slam" shut it tight and locked it. The people of Noshoe were saved from the tyrant Mayor.
I would have made this longer but 800 words was the maximum on this assignment. My story must not be good as no one is reading it and posting thier thoughts :(

It's not that it's not good, you probably posted it around the time nobody who critiques was on. My main critique with this is that you're telling when what you want to do is show. Especially when it gets to 'due to...' Couldn't this be part of the broadcast that they are watching? That part simply doesn't read like a story (which follows the characters and what happens to them), instead like the blurb that would be on the back of the book. Is there a way to have this information come out - either as the characters speak to each other or as they listen to it or something? Dialogue is a good way to get exposition out without feeling like an information dump.

Hope that makes sense. I'm also not getting a feel for how Debbie and Joey know Phoenix. Are they all just friends? Brothers & sisters? Oh there it finally says in the third paragraph. It could be edited way down if you simply took those characters out and concentrate on his relationship with Mom and Sara. That would take a lot of words out too, just a suggestion. You could edit way down. Also put like thoughts with like thoughts - for instance when introducing the city. Here's a suggestion (I put some in dialogue, which makes information more interesting)

Noshoe was a large city which had been built on a cliff beside a large mountain. They stayed at a homeless shelter until Phoenix's mother found work and in a week, she was able to afford an apartment while Sara returned to school. Still, Phoenix worried about those who were not able to vacate and he went to go visit the city's Mayor, Charles Valour. "Sir I'm here to discuss if we have a plan in case the cooling come towards Noshoe." The Mayor raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm impressed with your concern, would you like a job on my council?"

Then don't say what he discovered yet. Be with the character as he discovers it - you don't want to give too much away at once. You don't need the 'It wasn't long after' sentence at all. Just a few suggestions on bringing it to life - really nice ending too! Good luck with it!

Recommend me bands similar to these:?

I'm not looking for any specific genres. Just name anything you might think I'd listen to. Title and Artist please.

I have a Last.FM.
