There was a really bad road accident that ended up being fatal. It made me realize that my kit was junk it had band aids, scissors and gauze the size of my thumb. There were massive injuries in this accident and I would like to be more prepared. I know i may never see this kind of accident again but it would definitely make me feel better to have it. Please recommend a web site, current kit you have or put together. I do have first aid/cpr training.
This was a fatal accident, obviously nothing you could do to prevent this except set yourself up for liability and run the risk of contracting a disease. Leave the high tech first aid to the medics. Trust me I hate it when over zealous bystanders get in my way and often they do more harm than good.

I'm glad you want to be prepared, however you're going to wind up carrying around a lot of stuff if you get a pre-filled kit (and it's going to wind up costing you more). I'm a paramedic, and I don't carry anywhere NEAR what some of these people are suggesting.
My "hope I don't need it but at least I have it" bag contains:
-Nitrile gloves, multiple pairs
-Hand sanitizer (for the one who said "alcohol preps, for cleaning instruments", alcohol does not clean anything adequately, especially if you're planning on re-using an item. Something labeled "germicide" is your best bet)
-CPR mask (I also cary a BVM, but that's just my preference)
-various oral airways (OPA's)
-a turkey baster (for suctioning vomit/blood/etc. out of airways)
-multiple large dressings (I carry a bunch of 4x4 gauzes, ABD pads, and a trauma dressing)
-a few rolls of kling (fluffy cloth bandaging)
-tape (cloth works best, as it sticks to almost anything)
-trauma shears
-a cheap stethoscope & BP cuff (if you're only trained in cpr & basic first aid, you won't need these)
Always remember, the best thing you can do for someone involved in a bad wreck is to get help to them- CALL 911 FIRST! Then try to keep the people involved as calm as you can, and try to keep them from moving. Always remember to keep your safety first!
With summer here and more people doing things with their dog(s), I'm curious if you have a first aid kit in your car? At home?
I want to know if you stock your first aid kit just for your dog and just for your activity?
Do you know doggie CPR?
I do not know doggie CPR but I have done CPR on my hamster =( Unfort you cant really do this seeign as their lungs are so small. But I would try whatever to save my pup. I have a firts aid kit with a first aid book that tells me what to do for certain things... liek if the dogs eye pops out get saline solution and put it in that with ice and ER right away. Or if the dog has something in its eye flush it with saline solution. Its very helpful for a lot of differnet things.
