especially in sports like football, baseball, etc?
No. I have coached youth sports, I also carry a CPR card, but do not make it mandatory. A good solution is to have the club bylaws suggest it to all coaches. Then the club can put on the course. The coaches are in short supply and to make it a requirment will just increase the shortage.
The Jack Project will combat the massive stigma associated with mental illness and improve the services for young people struggling with anxiety ...
This training will not only discipline the youngsters but a good trained man Power available in emergency.
My suggestion would be to have children interested in this to join the Boy scouts and Girl scouts. Both are very relevant organizations, especially in today's world as well as tomorrow's.
"Be prepared"
As a young adult, if you truly want the "best of the best" training in this, try out for the PJ's in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. LOL!!! Best of luck to you.
"We die so others may live."
Then of course you have the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD. Excellent training in this as well.(Among the very best).
"So others may live"
Moreso if the guys that make through the coast guard and Air Force training and service term(s) might be well advised to become troop leaders for the first two organizations listed above.
This way you can help in training the next generation.
I am in the process of obtaining an apprenticeship, but in the mean time I am needing to support myself financially.
I have applied for Youth Allowance as a Job Seeker via Centrelink, but to fulfill the activity requirements I must have a certificate in something (Cert II, Cert III, Cert IV, Diploma, etc.) because I did not complete Year 12.
I do have my Level 2 in Apply First Aid, but I need to know if it is recognized as an equivalent to a Certificate II?
Otherwise I will need to do some type of course, which is stupid considering I need money to do one and that is precisely the reason I'm applying for Youth Allowance in the first place- finanical help.
Thank you!
Its definitely not the same thing.. there's no 'Cert' qualification for First Aid on its own, however, there is Cert II in Emergency Medical Service First Response.
The basic difference is that the First Aid level 1 and 2 are like a short course, they can be completed in a day or a few sessions. A Cert II, III and IV are generally completed over a longer time frame - you have subjects and assignments etc... and you learn skills to enter into a new career or into a higher course. First Aid is great to have in any job, but a first aid course will generally not land you a new career on its own :)
Edit: Have you got a Health Care Card? Most TAFE fees are very minimal (I think my friend paid $50 for the year!) with one :)

My son is more reckless than the average toddler. At 17 months he can scale pretty much any piece of furniture in the house, his latest thing is to dive off the couch with his hands extended to try to do a handstand/flip. We have tile, he's already hit his head once, but that didn't deter him.
Our pediatrician says that he's seen children like my son before and he's likely to have a broken bone or two in his youth. I'd like to try to take some first aid courses just in case, so I can do necessary things while waiting for an ambulance. And of course I'd hope to be able to help him so that an ambulance wouldn't be necessary.
Any suggestion on what kind of course to take/ where to find one. I know I want to take CPR but I'd also like something broader than that.
Well, CPR/First Aid class is what you should take. I took this class and it does offer a lot of good information I think if call your local hospital or if your son goes to daycare ask them, they will be able to tell you when/where to take it.
Good Luck.

I'm not doing ANY maths or sciences, I can't do those AT ALL. So these are what I have chosen. What do you guys think of my selection?
Thanks :)
Those would be great subjects. They all have a community focus that is fantastic for being a social worker. As far as I'm concerned this course doesn't have any pre-recs (depends on Uni), but if this is your focus then these subject should be fine.
