Im doing a First Aid presentation for class and would like to use a dummy like they use in CPR/First Aid training courses. Is there anywhere I could get (or actually just borrow) one of these? I was thinking the Red Cross but theres not one close to my house. Any other ideas of where I could call and ask?
St. John's Ambulance rents them out and there are also some private companies that rent them. Find Ambu in your phonebook and ask them for a referral. Ambu is the company that makes most of the EAR and CPR dummies.

I was wondering if the training dummies used for
cpr, mouth to mouth breathing etc are made of latex? If so how can I deal with it? I'm allergic to
latex and the smell of it as well.
I want to update my skills, but how can I do this because of my allergy to latex? Is there any other
type of training dummies that I can safely use without worrying about my allergies to latex?
Please help,I would really want to know?
More than likely, the dummies aren't going to be latex...too many people have an allergy to it, which is why hospitals and doctors offices now use latex free gloves :)
I'm moving to a region without any medical services what so ever. The entire country lacks any real doctors. I'd like to take with me the knowledge of how to treat common injuries, ailments and sickness.
I would especially like texts that cover treatments that involve little or no modern medical equipment. I hate to say it, but I'm in need for a "Medicine for Dummies". The country is in central america and its extremely small, medical care is done in a neighboring nation but I will not have the transportation.
Go to www.redcross.org.uk. There you can find many publications, First Aid Kits and advise on First Aid as well as contacting your local Red Cross who provide training to the public ranging from a 1 hour Save a Life Course to a 4 day Standard First Aid Course.
The First Aid Manual of the National First Aid Societies (British Red Cross, St John's Ambulance and St Andrew's Ambulance) is a very good publication and so is the British Red Cross Practical First Aid Manual. Both are the basis of training and therefore designed for the noivce.
First Aid is pre hospital care and therefore designed to utilise only basic equipment that you can easily take with you.
I was recently offered a spot in a first aid course. It was paid for, so I said sure. When the class started though it turned out you'd be constantly putting your hands on the other students, holding their heads, a lot of touching.
This really creeped me out and I had to leave the course. I figured they'd use dummies or something to show 'hands on' stuff. I was not about to spend a whole day getting that intimate with a bunch of strangers.
So does anyone know of first aid courses where you don't have to touch anybody or have them putting their hands on you? It would have to be in Vancouver B.C.
For the record, I have no interest in first aid at all, and I have no expectation of actually using it. It's just something an employer might want to see on a resume, and I am unemployed and desperate for work.
Sorry there are no first aid courses where touching ot another person is not involved. Instructors try to keep scenarios as realistic as they can. If you are in need ot performing first aid on a live person and you used a dummy for practice, I am sure that you would have some major issues as a dummy does not move or bandage up the same way as a live person.
Okay so just wondering is there an actual name for dummies (you know like practice ones for first aid) and just exactly how much do they cost, and also are there any other important equipment for first aid?

See this website. Usually they're just called manikins. As you can see they're about 200 a pop. Other first aid stuff you might want... well for cpr you need a pocket mask.

You'll want gloves(to prevent touching any blood or other bodily fluids) Latex or nitrile. Nitrile is best because of common latex allergies.
