im trying to get certified as soon as possible for a coaching position and i need certification in cpr and first aid. however i cant take an online course. can anyone recommend any places in suffolk county that i can go to to get certified in these areas? thanks for the help in advance
Look into "Standard First Aid." This is a two-day course offered by both the Red Cross and St John Ambulance. It will cover CPR for Adults, Children and Infants along with basic first aid skills for bleeds, breaks, etc.

No. I have coached youth sports, I also carry a CPR card, but do not make it mandatory. A good solution is to have the club bylaws suggest it to all coaches. Then the club can put on the course. The coaches are in short supply and to make it a requirment will just increase the shortage.

i'm being put forward for an assistant boxing coach's course and have been told I need a first aid qualification, but how basic or advanced does this have to be?
will a basic course be sufficiant, or do i need to go for a more advanced level of first aid?

It is not a "rules" issue.
It is however a School Board policy issue. The Board in my area requires a trainer (with first aid equipment) and a game manager (school administrator) and a lightning detector, and a law enforcement officer at every contest. They are all good ideas.
