what things do i need to buy for my first car?

what sort of things do i need to buy for the boot of my first car, for example a first aid kit etc?

My hubby carries a first aid kit, blanket and a hi-vis vest incase he breaks down. It would also help if you were first aid trained as you never know what you may see on the roads.
For winter a small folding shovel if you live in a snowy area.

What would be the best in car First aid kit for a Jr. Fireman?

Im trying to find a First aid kid for a jr fireman. I am a boy scout with first aid and emergency preparedness merit badge so i know what to do with just about everything first aid wise, im just looking for a good all around kit for just about anything. It will probably be used most for things like car accidents, but it has to be good for just about anything. If it would be a kit that i would have to add some stuff to that would be fine too. Any suggestions would be nice. (try and keep under $150)
i have been looking at this one http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=g eneral_catalog&style=TK079 any suggestions are appreciated, thanks
I understand to leave it to the professionals but if im the first person there i will be helping the person especially because i know what to do. And a car accident is just the first thing that came to mind, im just looking for suggestions for an all around first aid kit for just about anything. Im looking for suggestions, not advice on what to do because i know that When paramedics arrive to get out of the way and let them do their job, but being a Jr fireman i usually am the first person there. I know to get out of the way

Please leave the car accidents to the Profession firefighters and Paramedics. Nothing we hate more than some citizen trying to help and just getting in our way. Plus your likely to get injured also. Nothing is more dangerous than being out on a car accident in the middle of a street or highway.

Sorry didn't mean to come off as an ass. You must be from a small town with a volunteer fire dept. I'm not sure what you mean by Jr. fireman is it the same as a cadet or POC? Do you belong to the local fire dept. If so you could probably get everything you want from their ambulance and just buy an empty bag to put it all in instead of buying overpriced medical supplies from galls. You could also try thefirestore.com they usually have better prices than galls.

Where to buy First Aid / safety kit for car?

My friend drives a lot between states, but she doesn't have a first aid in her car. So, for the winter holidays, I'd like to get her a First Aid kit, and perhaps a flashlight and a blanket (whatever is considered an essential safety kit for a driver).

Can you recommend me any stores (real ones and/or online ones) where I can purchase these items for a reasonable price?

P.S.
I live in DC area. I'm also a AAA member.

Any good parts store.

What items do other people keep in their car ‘just-in-case’; to be prepared for any eventuality?

I have recently got my first car and I would like people to contribute helpful suggestions for useful things I should keep in it. Not just for mechanical problems with the car, but anything. Currently, I have the tool kit for changing the tyre, paper serviettes, tissues, drinking straws, a plastic bag to put rubbish in, a sterile triangular bandage, an abridged first aid book, the car’s service record book and an unopened bag of rice cakes. What do others keep in their cars?

A blanket, jumper cables, a bottle of every fluid it might need, a plug-in air compressor, a small tool kit.

What should I keep in a first-aid kit for my car?

I am going away and I was wondering if anyone new what I should keep in a first-aid kit.

I am going camping.

Make sure you have one or two of those emergency rescue blankets that look like tinfoil, they keep your body heat in and are packaged into little compact squares... Keep one in the glove box and one in the trunk - keep one INSIDE the car in case you ever get trapped inside you car after an accident in a ditch or ravine or something. You should also keep a flashlight, extra batteries, an emergency auto glass window breaking tool with seat-belt cutter if you ever end up in the water in your car ( flash flood - or drive into a lake or river ) you will not be able to open your car door until the car is completely submerged and the pressure equals out and electric roll down windows won't work and it is hard as hell to break window glass without one of these tools. Also pack a few protein bars and a jug of distilled water. Flares, a whistle, be sure and bring along extra meds if you are on any... and like the woman above me posted just a regular first aid kit... Be sure it has some Neosporin in it and rubbing alcohol, and be sure and bring some benadryl pills in case you have an unexpected allergic reaction. Cell phone and charger and/or spare batteries and waterproof matches and a lighter. It's also a good idea to keep a simple cheap wool skull cap or ski mask and extra wool socks and gloves in the car ( you lose most of your body heat from the top of your head ) And Nose Toes and Fingers are the first things to go with frostbite Best of luck
