For example how should the 3 burn trreatment be treated?

All burns are treated the same, to stop the burning process.

If clothing has melted to the burnt area DO NOT REMOVE, as this will cause further pain, take more skin off, if not de-glove the victim. (I know someone who had his arm de-gloved because someone removed his shirt).


BURNS
Your skin is a protective barrier to infection, and any loss of skin, however small, is susceptible to infection. any burn bigger than a 50 cent coin, you must seek medical attention. If the burn is bigger than the casualty's hand then call an ambulance immediately.

Management of a burn
* Cool burnt area (minimum 10-20 minutes cold running water or until no further pain is felt)
* Remove jewellery
* Cover with sterile non -stick dressing
* Seek medical help urgently.

DO NOT
- Apply lotions, oily dressings (butter)
- Prick / break blisters
- Give alcohol to drink
- Over-cool casualty (shock)
- Use cotton wool, adhesive dressings etc.
on burn.

If you have no non stick dressing use glad wrap, it acts as a second skin and will also protect the skin from infection.

The reason why we;
Don't apply creams, Makes it hard for doctors to assess for the burn properly.
Don't break or burst blisters - Increase the risk of infection.
Don't give alcohol - Increase shock.
Don't use cotton wool or adhesive dressing - Is they stick to burn and hard to remove.

Frostbite is a freezing of the skin and deeper body tissues. There are varying degrees, but the treatment is similar for all of them. In any case, the real degree of the frostbite usually won't be known until after it is treated and the damage can be determined.
The first sign of frostbite may be a loss of feeling in the affected area. White patches on the skin are the next obvious symptom. Watch for a white tip of the nose. The skin will appear pale and waxy. The fingers may even clack together like pieces of wood in serious cases.
Frostbite Treatment
Quick rewarming of the affected areas is the usual treatment. This can be as simple as putting your frostbitten fingers under your arms in mild cases. In more serious cases, the treatment of choice is hot water. Frostbitten toes can be effectively warmed against the bare stomach of a good friend.
Refreezing of thawed body parts can cause substantial tissue loss. Therefore it is important to not only treat the affected areas, but to have a plan for protecting them from the cold thereafter. For this reason, there are times when it may be best to leave the affected parts frozen.
One such instance is when a foot is seriously frozen, but is needed to walk to safety. Thawing it out before you can easily keep it thawed not only might result in more damage, but a thawed foot may be impossible to walk on due to the pain. More than one person has had to leave a foot frozen in order hike out to safety - even when this has meant the loss of the foot.

you can, but will it help? NO. 1st degree burn is like a sunburn -try aloe and cool water, take advil for the pain.

The First Aid treatment for burns is to wash the burn with cold running water, then why do they still make burns cream?

And I'm talking about for the First Aid treatmet for burns, not the post-treatment for burns (once you have seen the doctor)

Burn creams are ok to use on minor burns, (usually a small area that is red, with no blisters or blackened skin), and don't need medical treatment, aloe vera gel being excellent for burns minor burns.

But the main reason we ask people not use burn breams, is that they make it difficult for doctors to assess the seriousness of a burn, the other is some people maybe allergic to something in the cream.

I know of a man who had 40% (chest, back and arms) full thickness burns to his body, a nurse at the scene applied aloe vera gel and burn cream to his burns, after he'd cooled the burns with water, when he got to the hospital they had to wash the cream off, because they could see how serious the burn was or tell what was a blob of gel or a blister. This poor man said it was excruciating, he asked why, he was told that serious burns should be treated with cool running water only, because they want to see how serious the burn is, then treat the burn appropriately to the seriousness. He spent over 6 months in hospital
