can i train to do first aid at 16. any advice or suggestions please? wud be very greatful.

You can train at pretty much any age. Read through a first aid manual, which you can probably get from a library to help you out.

what is the need and importance of first aid?

first aid and CPR does save lives

they teach you what to do when some one has a stroke / heart attach/ choking.
to learn the signs of them and to treat them

also they will teach you what to do when some one is hurt broken arm or leg

how to stop bleeding
how to treat a cut.
what to do for a burn (for bad burns what is done in the first few Min's determines if they person will live)

now the reason they ask you to keep it up to date ( usually every three years or less)
is they are always looking for better ways to do things.

I know how they do CPR is very different now than it was 10 years ago

now they even have a course on how to work the portable
defibrillators that plains and some schools and other places now have.

so knowing that could save a life

and for family and friends if someone hurts themselves you would know what to do.

my Niece fell and I had first aid so I know enough not to move her I kept her very still
knowing this stopped her from ending up in a wheel chair.
so yes it is worth it

Hi, for a job I want to apply for it requires one to have Emergency First Aid and CPR level "C".

However, the place I am getting my first aid from has the following seminars: "Emergency First Aid and Level A CPR", and "Standard First Aid and Level C CPR".

I was just wondering what is the difference between them, and which one is better to take in my case?
So do I have to get the seperate CPR Level "C"?

Emergency First Aid is life saving and Standard First Aid is non-life threatening (like splinting a fracture). You need Emergency First Aid and Level A CPR.

My daughter is 6 months and I want to start a first aid kit. What are some essential parts of a first aid kit besides band aids alcohol etc ?

benedryl for allergic reactions, baby tylenol or motrin, orajel, neosporin, different size band-aids, one of those cold-pack things....I'm sure you can check babies r us for a pre-packaged first aid kit and just purchase the same items from the drug store for 1/2 the price.

All I can find are first aid kits with band-aids... Any suggestions? (For example, won't I need a eye washout cup?)

There are many sets of standard first-aid equipment in baby stores. In general, you will need to have a thermometer, infant Tylenol and/or ibuprofen, an icepack (it's nice to leave one in the freezer and it's easier to use a gel pack than ice cubes), and then some of the typical things that you'd need for yourself (antibiotic ointment, band-aids). There is some controversy now about whether syrup of ipecac is as universally useful as people once thought, but it can't hurt to have around.

A few other random tips: You don't need cold medicine for infants (and probably not for young children, either). Infants shouldn't typically need hydrocortisone, either. You might not consider it first-aid exactly, but for any child over 6 months, having sunscreen is important, also. Babies are sent home from the hospital with a nasal aspirator. It is helpful to have baby nail clippers instead of full-size ones. You don't need an additional medicine dispenser, as almost all medicines come with a syringe or dropper already. Eye washes are so rarely needed that I don't think anyone considers them standard or necessary anymore.
